Providing Specialized Support for Youth with Complex Needs

At Children’s Hope, we believe youth with intensive needs deserve the warmth of a home, not an institution. Our Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC) program serves children and teens needing enhanced behavioral, emotional, or medical support in a certified family environment instead of group homes or short-term facilities.

Youth in this program receive individualized, trauma-informed care and specialized services to help them stabilize, heal, and thrive.

What the ISFC

Program Provides

Our ISFC-certified homes are equipped to support children with:

  • Mental health or behavioral challenges
  • Complex trauma histories
  • Specialized medical or developmental needs
  • High-risk behaviors or safety concerns
  • Transition needs from residential programs or juvenile facilities

Core supports include:

  • Access to mental health services and therapeutic care
  • Case management and individualized treatment planning
  • Transitional and crisis stabilization support
  • Ongoing coaching and in-home support for caregivers
  • 24/7 on-call access to agency professionals

ISFC Resource Parent Requirements

Providing this level of care takes commitment and preparation. That’s why ISFC-certified foster parents must complete advanced training to ensure readiness and ongoing growth:

  • 51 hours of pre-placement training
  • 24 hours of continuing education within the first 12 months
  • 12 hours of annual training thereafter

Training covers trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, medical needs, and more. Our team is with you every step of the way.

Why ISFC Matters

The ISFC program helps keep children in supportive homes rather than institutional care—allowing them to build trusting relationships, access personalized services, and move toward long-term stability. With the right care, every child has a chance to succeed.
